Former couple Nina Dobrev and Ian Somerhalder are still close friends, and joked about their 'chemistry' on and off screen while accepting the People's Choice Award.
Who said exes who still play a couple on television can't be good friends?
If their "Best Chemistry" win was any indication, Nina Dobrev and Ian Somerhalder are still getting along great. The "Vampire Diaries" couple took home the award after delivering a lighthearted speech about their complicated romance at the People's Choice Awards on Wednesday night.
"We started dating on the show," Dobrev, 25, said.

"We started dating in real life," Somerhalder, 35, added, finishing her sentence.

"It's a good thing it's not awkward," she added.
The two finished their rehearsed exchange with an awkward look, but then broke into laughter and ended their acceptance speech with a kiss on the cheek.
It's no secret that the former couple - who ended their relationship in May after more than three years of dating - has an ongoing friendship.

In November it was also rumored that the pair had been quietly hooking up again, after Dobrev briefly romanced dancer Derek Hough, brother of her close friend Julianne Hough.
The short-lived union with the "Dancing with the Stars" hunk fizzled out due to distance, sources told Us Weekly, as his show tapes in Los Angeles while the CW teen drama tapes in Atlanta.
