- San Angeloans looking to spend time outdoors are advised to bundle up as temperatures take a brief plunge at the start of the week.
"It will be well below what we're used to around here," said Nick Reimer, meteorologist with the San Angelo National Weather Service at Mathis Field. "It's going to be very cold."
Sunday's highs are estimated to dip about 20 degrees below normal, Reimer said, topping out at about 40.
The lows Sunday and Monday night are expected to drop to about 15 or 16 degrees, he said.
"There's a little bit of wind overnight," Reimer said. "The chills will be in the single digits."
Wind chills could drop as low as 4 or 5 degrees, he said. Winds could get to about 15 to 20 mph over Sunday and Monday night, with gusts up to 30 mph, but even slower winds can drop the wind chill considerably.
"It'll be very cold, especially before sunrise Monday," Reimer said.
The Weather Service estimates Monday's high at about 37 degrees.
The front should start to move out by Tuesday, Reimer said, with highs at about 53 degrees Tuesday.
Lows will likely stay above freezing Tuesday night, he said.
San Angelo is unlikely to receive any precipitation from this cold front, Reimer said.
The radar shows some clouds coming in right after the cold front moves through, he said, but they are unlikely to produce any rainfall.
