It's official: Ice storm breaks Peco record for winter outages

Ice damage overnight has been so devastating to Southeastern Pennsylvania that Peco has set an outage record for any winter storm.

Ice damage overnight has been so devastating to Southeastern Pennsylvania that Peco has set an outage record for any winter storm.
As of midday, about 588,000 homes and businesses had lost power at some point, a toll exceeded in any season only by Superstorm Sandy, which hit in late October 2012.
And this ice storm's final numbers are not yet in, since more ice-coated limbs, wires and even trees are expected to fall, Peco said.
Officially, here are the 12 highest outage totals in Peco history.
