The first figure skating competition of the 2014 Winter Olympics is not a individual event, as it was in past games. New for the Sochi Olympics is the team figure skating event, which lets each participating country submit one skater (or one pair) per category in both short and long programs. For the U.S. short programs, Ashley Wagner is the women's singles participant.
